Make Your Mark

A few months ago my girl Lewie gave me the idea that all of the 1102 founders should have a signature hair color, and I had decided on purple and black. I knew how I was going to die my hair the same way it was done before, purple in the bangs and black everywhere else. And whenever I go out I swing by the beauty supply store and check out dye colors.
So yup while I was at work, pretending to be busy like they told me to, I was thinking about what else I can do with my color besides just dying it in the front. So while I’m going to look at some picture and get more ideas but for now when I’m hair gets shoulder length when twisted I will dye the ends purple and wear my hair twisted as my main style. Later on I plan to play around with purple high and low lights and a gradient dip. But until then I am waiting till my 21 to dye my hair again just to give it time to grow out a little more.

this is the color purple I want

This is how I'm going to dye it first

I may play around with this when my hair gets longer

Er RAH

I am getting very angry (Marvin the Martian voice). My hair the front just refuses to curl. At this point I don’t know if its cuz it’s still premed, the bleach from when I dyed my hair, or if it’s just a different curl pattern from my hair in the back. ::big sigh:: I guess I’m just gonna have to wait till it grows out some more. Hopefully by this time next year will have gotten rid of all the damaged ends from heat and relaxers.

Growth vs. Length Check

I was talking with one of my friends about the progress of my hair journey and I was talking about my next growth check. She looked at me and said "don't you mean length check." I laughed.
Growth and Length Checks in this case are two different things. Growth Checks are what I do to see how well my hair is, well growing. This has to do with the amount of hair that is coming out of my roots. At this point of my journey I am not so much concerned with the length of my hair because I still have some relaxed and damaged ends. Once my whole head is natural and I have gotten rid of any damages whether by heat or breakage then I will start concentrating on length retention. That is when I will start doing length checks.

Pat on the Back

I'm so proud of myself its been 2 months since I have put any real heat in my hair. YEAH!!! I have been just letting my hair air dry with the occasional defusing attempts. I know I owe you a growth check, but I think I will wait till the end of the summer or the next time I straighten my hair to do that. Hopefully by then I will have a set or semi set regimen to share with you guys.

My 1st Wig

After watching Tern916 wig review on YouTube I decided that getting a wig would help with my transition process since I don’t have the time or money to get tracks or twists. So after a week and a half of trying to get to the beauty supply store, I finally got the wig that I saw with my girl Lewie Taylor. I got the Outre Quick Weave Renee in the S1b/33 color and I LOVE IT. I still need to do a little more finger combing but it is good to go tomorrow morning.

The Plan is Alive

Since I cut my hair last week, I am going to make some changes to The Master Plan. Instead of getting another hair cut in August to remove the remaining perm, I’m just going to let my hair grow out getting regular trims every two months and get another cut cut in six months to a year. Also I think I will investigate getting either kinky twists or kinky curly tracks during the summer to help with the transition process.

Masive Moisture

For the last week my hair has been feeling very dry and my ends are in desperate need of a trim. But before I got a trim I want to see how much of my hair I could revive with a deep moisture treatment.
I started by straying my hair with a mixture of tap water and extra virgin olive oil. Then I sectioned my and applied the shea moisture deep treatment masque and wore a process cap for about 2.5 hours. Afterward rinsing out the masque I co washed with my generic and suave conditioner mixed with EVOO.

One Month In

It has been one month since I cut my hair and started going natural. At the end of January I dyed my bangs what was supposed to be a deep red color but came out more orange than red, because we left the bleach in too long, but it still looks good.
I have been using Dr. Miracle’s Stimulating Moisturizing Gro Oil and Mega Growth’s Growth Lotion daily and African Pride’s Magical Gro once a week.

Since dying my hair, I have notice more dandruff which I have been treating with the Gro Oil especially the part on my hair that was bleached. My friend told me to only wash my hair every few weeks so I haven’t washed my hair since it was dyed. I’m freaking out just a little bit. Since my junior year of high school I have wet my hair at least once a week, whether washing or just a deep condition. And as of my first year for college I have been washing and conditioning my hair every week. So I think for now that will be my bigest adjustment.

There hasnt been any noticeable hair growth as of yet. But stay tuned there will be a length check pic coming soon!

The First Hair Cut

My first offical step in my journey to going back natural. I needed to be able to style my hair myself. So, I decided to gradually cut my hair instead of all at once. This will allow me to start removing the relaxed part of my hair, but still be able to take care and style my hair
on my own.

The Master Plan

When I was 16 I got my first relaxer. Less than six months later I wanted my hair to be natural again. I had enquired about how to go back natural and everyone had told me I had to basically start from scratch by cutting my hair every short. I was not willing to part with my long so, I kept relaxing my hair for the past three years.

During my freshman year in college it was really on my heart to start going back natural. I had started doing some more research on the topic online and asking some other hair dressers. And found that cutting my hair boy short was not necessary. So long as I took care of my hair and be mindful of my dual textured hair I can grow my hair out until the natural part of my hair was at a length I was comfortable cutting the relaxed part of my hair.

So, in March of 2010 I received my last perm, and in January I devised my plan for going natural. Over the 18 months I will embark on my official journey transitioning from relaxed to natural, and I want to share the journey with you. In January 2011 I will cut my hair in a bob. From January 2011 to August 2011 I will go my hair out getting another hair cut in August. And in June 2012 if the natural part of my hair is long enough, I will cut all remaining perm out of my hair.
